89 tempo engine replace/identification

I bought a used engine from the local junk yard for rebuild and am unsure about the year. I noticed a stamped number on the top of the block [1E24SS]. Anyone know if this can somehow be used to determine the year of manufacture?

Also, does anyone know if there is any way to figure out when this engine was made.....
