2001 Mercury Marquis EATC fan light is on but not blowing from the fan. Test shows no errors (88.
History follows: Over time one by one each fan speed not longer blew air until only the hi worked. Then it stopped working altogether. If the EATC is set to normal and one is running at 60 MPH or more then a slight amount of cold air is felt coming out of the air vents. I am thinking of replacing the resistor, if that does not work then the fan and if that does not work finally the EATC itself.
Has anyone had similar issues? Am I barking up the wrong tree or is this a logical replacement plan? any ideas on this subject will be appreciated.

I've never done the EATC test before so I don't know what external parts it tests.
You can easily test the fan motor by putting 12v to it from the battery after unplugging the fan from the car. It's fairly easy to remove the fan unit.
While looking at the fan, you can look at the plug to the resistor, it is not uncommon for the plug to get damaged and melt or corrode. I'd guess if the plug is melted, the resistor should be replaced

Thanks for the info! I will include that at the top of my list of things to do.

The Fan control module/ Resistor should fix your problem. But do test the fan motor first. I had replaced the Fan Control Module/Resistor back in February on my 2003 GM LS. Worked fine for about 4 months then would only work on high speed. I used a Standard Motor Products part (RU572) which I got from Rock Auto. They sent another part since it has a one year warranty. I had to pay shipping. So far the new part is working fine. I hope it was just a new defective part. There is not much room to remove and install the part! Maybe you want to try another brand?
