My '03 Crown Vic Sport is missing @ low RPM, and the \\"check engine\\" light just keeps on flashing. I had the code run, and the #1 fault was that the #6 cylinder is mis-firing. I bought a new coil pack, but have not had it installed. There was also a fuel injection fault on #2 cylinder. My Ford guru said to ignore all faults after the first one, as the first fault can trigger other faults. I can tell just by feel that there is only 1 cylinder mis-firing.
At running temp, the engine has a distinctive miss, but if I get on it, say, above 3K RPM, it pulls like it used to. I\\'ve also heard of horror stories of springs involved in the boot, but I see none. The person that told my of the spring thing had a Mustang, with the 4.6. I\\'ve watched videos of coil replacement, and I saw no springs. HELP !

A misfire can result from 1- lack of fuel or, 2- lack of spark. Since the car is running, it is getting fuel and it is getting spark, except to the #6 cylinder. And you could also have a spark plug that fouled out.
Your Ford guru told you to replace he coil pack. A problem the mod engines have isn't just with the coil packs per say; it is the connector between the coil pack and the spark plug.. I have seen these burn out and had people cuss and swear about the coil packs. Those little springs you are worried about are inside those connectors.
IMHO if you are going to do this, I would replace all the spark plugs, replace the coil pack and connector on #6, clear the codes, and run it for a while to see what happens. If the other codes come back, then you can start at that point.
