hi guys! New to the forum and Crown Vic world. I have always like P71 models and wondering if I can get some help.

I recently found a 2008 Crown Victoris P71 with 93,000 miles but the idle hours was at 7200. The back where the Police Interceptor badge had a SHERIFF INTERCEPTOR badge instead, bigger and bolder. Is there such a thing as Sheriff Interceptor ? I know the seller bought it from a small town Boston Sheriff department. I did a Goggle search but could not find anything related to that badge . Just want to run it by you before I buy the car .

The seller had the cluster gauge changed, intake manifold done and new sets of tires. The transmission seems strong but worried about the 7200 hours of idle.

Please let me know

Hi,

Welcome.

There area lot of these cars out there, so maybe do more searching until you are happy with the one you want.

You could probably do a CAR FAX on it to learn more but it will likely show the city as purchaser. Depends on the price of car (cheap?) and your handy skills to make repairs when needed. Overall, these cars were built to be twice as reliable as the civilian version.

I bought my 2008 this past March from www.chicagomotors.com with about 43,000 miles on it. Probably pay more than privately. It was used by a detective and I think he only put about 5,000/year on it so it was in good condition with 590 idle hours. So there are some good ones still out there.

And I'm sure you are aware how the car is modified that you will have to change, like the rear door locks.

Hmmm..... so there is no such badge as SHERIFF INTERCEPTOR? I feel that 7200 idle hours is a bit too much. Or does it not really matter?

I believe 1 idle hour is equal to 30 miles on the odometer.

so 7200 x 30 = 216000 additional miles ?

Damn.... that's too many miles for me to buy. The seller has done the plastic intake manifold cluster and put 4 new tires in it. Good remote starter, sound system and CD player but it's it worth $6000?
