I have acquired this F-150 that the previous owner wanted a manual transmission in the truck so he changed all parts so the truck is now able to drive down the road .Now my Adventure Starts, it has a check engine light on, has a very bad miss, is running really rich . I tried to perform a check engine light flash out by connecting two wires at EEC TEST port and was unable to get any results. So I performed basic, fuel pressure with koeo is right at 58 ish, with key off fuel pressure doesn\\'t really move much unless I pull a little vacuum on fuel pressure regular then of course it falls ,it has new spark plugs , sparkplug wires ,new dist, new rotor I removed all 6 sparkplug ,of course all where black and the top of the number 1 piston was wet so I performed a compression test , all 6 cylinders ran from 150 to 160 psi . The front tank is missing and I noticed the evaporated purge valve or solenoid was removed from between the charcoal canister and throttle body so I bypassed that so it wouldn\\'t pull fumes from canister . I checked the voltage and ohms on the ECT for the pcm and Act they tested fine. So I went to try a start it after I performed all my basic test now it won\\'t start , I checked for spark it\\'s there, I checked for voltage at the injectors it\\'s there but there is no ground coming from the pcm. Now I haven\\'t yet checked for a short a open in the wire between the pcm and the injectors I\\'m sure I will most likely need a pcm . Now sense I was unable to get a flash out in the beginning and the pcm in now not pulsating the injectors I would think the odds are good that the pcm is mostly at fault now here is my question. I have a 4.9L with a manual transmission that was a automatic do I replace the pcm for a truck with a manual transmission program or should I replace it with the original automatic setup with the original wiring harness ?? And does the pcm use any wiring from the original automatic set up that might turn on the check engine light ? Do I find a harness and a manual pcm program or do I go with the original pcm programming and hope the check engine light won\\'t come on from the automatic transmission not being there ????
