I have a 2004 Police Interceptor with 126000 on it and new battery. Back in January was driving down the road at about 40mph and the car just shut off and I was coasting to a stop. All gauges shut down and was like someone pulled the key. I noticed earlier that day the car made like a sputter and than went back to normal. Now I did notice this also I have had the cats removed which had made my check engine light stay on all the time but since the car will not start now I noticed that the light will not even illuminate , which makes me think this may be an electrical issue. now I tried cranking it and after checking the spark plugs there is no fuel on them. So could the fuel pump make this to stop or am I looking at the wrong items. Someone if you know could you help, this was my main car for 5 years and I am lost with out it. Thank you.
When you turn the key, do you hear the pump prime?
If everything(gauges and engine) just shut off then the fuel pump is not your main issue.
The PCM has a relay and fuse in the fuse box under the hood, see if those are ok if nothing is working.
Having the CEL on all the time can open a can of worms, if a new problem comes up you will never know unless you check why it's on every day.
I can not hear the fuel pump. I tried this on another Crown Vic and I could not hear it either.I did check the relay under the hood and every time the key is cycled the relay clicked. I have checked all fuses under hood and under dash.
