Welcome - You didn't say the year of your Excursion.
If you have the older 7.3L PSD engine you're fortunate. If you plan to do heavy towing, and have the 6.0L, you may want to consider some "Bullet Proof Mods" for your engine.
Most Excursions suffer from wandering steering due to "soccer mom suspensions" when Ford deviated from solid F250/F350 suspension designs. One fix is the F250 leaf spring swap is listed in this forum at this URL http://www.supermotors.net/clubs/fordexcursions/registry/9/54681-2

That is one of the Fords I'm always on the look out for. My dream excursion would be the 7.3L diesel with the manual ZF5 transmission, and of course 4x4. That or a F350 4x4 7.3L diesel with the ZF5 manual.
