We have an 89 Ford f150 8 cyl standard tranny with dual fuel tanks. The truck was running fine and just died suddenly as if it ran out of gas. The rear gas tank was overflowing for some reason and, we added gas to the front tank and even tried to switch tanks.. nothing! We put some carb cleaner into the intake to see if it was fuel related but, it still wouldn\\'t start so, we started looking more towards the spark side (fuel pump comes on when the ignition is turned on and, you can hear several clicks from the ignition)
So far we have replaced the distributer rotor and distributer cap, ECM, and the main brain. (spark plugs and wires were replaced last year for routine maintenance.)
I have only found 1 fuse box under the driver\\'s side dash and all of the fuses are good.
The fuel inirtia switch is pushed in so, that part is not tripped.
We used a jump wire to test for codes and it\\'s illuminating code 67. I\\'m not sure if that might be an old code that was never cleared out though. Could code 67 keep the truck from starting? This code seems like a transmission failure issue instead of a crank issue.
My husband is now thinking the distributer is not getting enough spark from the rotor and wants to replace the whole distributer +or+ he is thinking it jumped time.
