Hi! Ive got a f100 with 8,8 but dont know if its 28 or 31 spline. Its from a 2005 police crown vic. Any way to know for sure without needing to pull out an axle? Gonna order an lsd...

2005 was the change year, those built after 12/4/2004 should be 31 spline. Only way to know for sure is to pull an axle.
A car in service could have had the entire rear changed at some point, it could be one from 2003 up to 2011, you never know what they'll do to keep the car in service.
