Someone Please help!!!!!

I was just under the hood of my rig and took the breather cover off and noticed something that is not supposed to be there. OIL Why would I have Oil in my breather and in my filter? The little Filter on the side of the breather that the hose that comes off of the top of the valve cover right next to the oil file cap is BLACK! Full of oil. So it seems to be comming from that hose. How can i be sure and how can i fix this prob?? Please help. Post back here or for a faster fix PLEASE email @ [email protected].

Don't worry about it. That is normal. The tube coming from the valve cover to the air filter(s) is a breather tube for the engine. If there is alot of oil in the filters simply replace them.

But is that normal?? Should oil be coming in like that?

Yes. It just spits, but over time it will add up in the filter and that general area.

How many miles dos the truck have on it ?.

This is what I do, Pull the Valve Covers Off, Replace the Valve Stem Seals.
This always worked for me on some older, High Mileage cars & trucks.
The down side to this is that the seals (Seal) now and sometimes will cause other seals to start leaking.
I would also check or do a leak down test on the cylinders - This will tell you how much blo-by around the rings you are getting (if this is a high mileage motor) - Many be time to freshen it up (Rings & Valve Stem Seals) or get another one rebuilt (Motor).

My answer is this - Yes it is normal to get some oil but not a lot of it and from what you said above ( Spitting oil out ) is not Normal for any motor.

Thanks for the advice John but I was looking for a cheap route seeing how I am short on da green backs But yes it has over 100000 miles on it. I am putting some $ back to have the sucker rebuilt ON DAY! Not sure what ya mean by leak down test on the cylinders. But thanks for the help and advice.

Leak down test. when you pull the spark plug out of a particular cylinder, replace it with a tube that is attached to a gauge and an air pump. Air is pumped into the cylinder to a predetermined limit (usually 150psi) and then you watch the air pump gauge to see how much air leaks out of the cylinder. Most cylinders hold steady at around 125-135 psi (meaning the rings are still good and the valves are completely seated). Cylinders that do not hold air pressure well , have bad valves and/or bad piston rings that LEAK!

I had this issue... right before I replaced the engine.
Not a problem now!
I'm sure everyone will disagree here, but that's not something that SHOULD be happening.
I took it as a sign my engine was on it's last leg.
Sometimes you are the Windshield... Sometimes you are the BuG!!!
