hey all. I am brand new to the forums and was looking for a little bit of help. I just recently bought an 88 bronco II with a 2.9L everything on it is stock. I am wanting to put a lift on it and get bigger tires for it. I guess I am just looking for thoughts from some of you on what would be the best size lift to go with, (i am thinking 3 or 4 inches) and what would be the biggest tires i could put on after it is lifted. any feedback would be much appreciated.

Issues to think about are as follows

1. What are you gonna use it for.
2. What is your budget

If you wheel it, the best way to go is a 4" or 6" Cepek
with extended radius arms and full leaf springs
35" tires or better and the ideal 4.56 gear ratio
for power.

I'm am not an expert, Bob will chime in for that,

but that is my $.02

post some pics of what you do. We like that.

Thats not dented, It's customized

honestly i probably wont be able to do a lot of off roading with it. bit i would like to do it because i really want a rig i can be proud of. all i know is that all most of the bronco II's that i see on the street are not prized cars which is one reason i want mine to be different. i want people to take notice when i drive past them.
as far as a budget goes, i guess i havent given it as much thought as i should have. I dont have a real set budget in place I want to spend the smallest amount of money needed to get it done right i will not do this project halfassed just because of cash. plus i work for Schucks so i get a good discount.
pony-boy i thank you for your comments and help... honestly the gear ratio never entered my mind. (shame on me), any other suggestions would be great.
thanks guys

For your Bronco II, I would stay with a 3-4" lift, and you could run 31-33" tires. Plan to spend about $500 for the kit, $450 labor to have it installed, and $500 for new tires. New wheels are $300 and up for a set. Re-gearing the axles would be a good idea, but not have to be done right away. I had a '86 Ford Ranger with a 4" Rancho lift and 33x12.50's on the factory rims. Still had plenty of power with factory gearing, but it did have the V6 under the hood.
