ok, my 81 wont start. i charged the battery, new starter and plugs, but when i turn the key nothing. click click and thats it. i need help. its a 351w with a 2bbl carb.its too dark to do anything right now, but what should i check tommorrow??

Jason, if I were u I would check out the starter solenoid. Sometimes you cant tell by looking at it but just replace it anyway. Im unaware of where yours might be. I have an 87 and mines on the left side fender wall behind the battery, but your may be right on the starter. Hope this helps.

Replace the starter solenoid, it's the little black doohickey on the passenger-side fender that the positive battery cable connects to. It's about $15. Also, check the condition of the wiring hooked up to it, there's a couple of fusable links and a wire to the starter.

thanks fellas, is there a way to check the silinoid like you can do with the starter? its only about a year or 2 old, is it common they go out so fast?

It depends sometimes, it just one of those things that decides to go whenever they want to. You can check it with a multi-meter

check with a multi meter? not exactly sure what that is, I usally take my parts to autozone and they check them for free.

Its an electricians tool, they range from 15-100 dollers.
