ok i just replaced the rack and pinion, and power steering pump in my 88 thunderbird turbo coupe but it makes a loud screaming noise when you turn on an idle and just above an idle can someone help me with this

Make sure your belt isnt too loose or too tight. It should be no more or no less then 1/4 inch of deflection.

yea that would work but the 88 thunderbird has a spring loaded tenshoner

i had the same problem in my 92 mustang,i poured some transmission additive in the power steering and the noise slowly went away slowly.

if got an 87 Thunderbird with a 347 in it and i had the same problem so i figured i was low on p\s fluid but i didnt have any at the time so i tryed brake fluid and it solved my problem
