My od light started blinking the other day. I looked it up in the book and it says take it to the dealer, something is wrong with your transmission. Well I figure that. I checked the tranny oil and it was fine. not burnt. Truck drive the same as always.

If anyone could give me some advice, I would like to try a few things before I take it to the shop. I just don't know a shop I can really trust.

yo Cory,
Any symptoms along w/the blink?
You can take it to a mechanic that can ck for codes.
Could be what I had, a short in wiring harness under strg column;

Could be a bad TCIL LED; see this for info on the TCIL - http://www.atcdg.com/TechBulletins/bull_135.htm

Could be the vehicle speed sensor (on rear axle) is disconnected or harness connector is bad, PSOM (Programmable Speedometer - Odometer module) is disconnected or bad or a failed TCC (Torque Converter Control) solenoid. + other thAngs.

Please include your vehicle model, year, engine and tranny in your signature for better replies in future.
