I thought from your initial post that was the case, but wanted to make sure...
On the 67 GT/GTAs the front disc brakes were standard equipment. I'm not sure that the 66's were the same. On a standard 500 I'm fairly sure they would have to be a special order. Not necessarily factory installed as many dealerships in the 60's did option installs in house.
It is possible to contact Ford Motor Company's Customer Relationship Center and request they send you the "original specifications and optional equipment" for your vehicle at the time of manufacture.
I did the request for my Ranchero and got a letter back in a couple of weeks that gave me a breakdown of the VIN, the production date, and the applicable options list.
This is a free service and provides a solid starting point as to what the car had originally.
