need help fast with a 460 swap thats in progress....

....ok first off I guess I should have done more homework before attempting this swap. But my brother bought a 78 F-150 with a 460 in it with the intentions on swaping the 460 into his 78 F150 super cab. Well we took both motors out got new motor mounts put some new parts on the 460 and we tried to swap it into the truck well no dice. First it appears the motor is about 1/2 to 3/8 inch to far forward. I am sure that the motor is fully seated into the bell housing, also the altenator is hitting on the from crossmember, but if the motor moved back the 1/2 inch it would not hit. And finally will his C-6 and torque convertor work with the 460 or do we have to swap entire transmissions, due to the parts truck tranny was in terrible Thank you in advance for the help I am going to go back out side and scratch my head some more. Yep home work helps....well I havent done any of this for awhle BUT you should be able to gain a half inch by loosening ALL your tranny mounting bolts and taking up some of the slack in you slip spline in the drive shaft..HOWEVER...some motor mounts do set the engine in a diff. position.
Any way...yea you'll need a C-6 for a 460 so you should be oK there...this swap should work pretty easy...any parts you might need MAY be on the donor truck...but first try the first option...
P.S.........you may need to swap the frame mounts also........if a diff motor was in the fix truck..
