Hey Folks.
I took a quick scan through the forums and cannot find an answer for my troubles, so I thought I'd try posting.
About a year ago, I bought a 1990 Ford Bronco II XLT. It ran fine until about a month ago. I was leaving my girlfriend's house and when I tried to start it, it turned over, but would not start (like it was running out of gas). Now, it does have a bad fuel gauge (a common problem from what I see online), so I have run it out of gas before...in the early days before I knew the fuel gauge was inaccurate.
It did eventually start that night and a few times the next day, and then nothing. Turns over like a champ, but will not start. My guess is that the seals in the pump must have gone and the pump had to work extra hard to get pressure, which eventually fried it. Sound reasonable?
I don't mind replacing it myself, but I'd like to know where to start. Should I look somewhere else despite the fact that it seems obvious that the sending unit is bad? If so, where? And if we all agree that it is the fuel pump...where the heck is the thing??
Thanks guys.

turn your key to the ON position but dont try to start it. When you do that, do you hear a brief whirring noise coming from the rear? |

the sneding unit or pump should be located inside of the fuel tank |
