460/550hp crate engine

Hey guys, first time here...

I'm putting together a Superformance MKIII roadster and I'd like to use the 550hp 460ci crate engine offered by Ford. Anyone try this engine? What kind of performance? Any dynojet numbers? I'll be using a Holley 950HP carb and TKO tranny. Thanks!

I used the stroked 460 in a 68 FB. When you get the engine from Ford, it comes with a Dyno sheet. As stated, it makes 550 HP @6250 RPM and roughly 550 ft/lbs of torque at 4750 RPM.
If you are planning an all out racing schedule, I would have the motor checked. Bearing clearances etc. You will most likely need a different oil pan and timing chain cover with dip stick access. The pan it comes with has a side mounted dip stick, and will cause a header clearance problem.

Thanks Ron. Good info. Did you install your motor in a Firebird? I know of a guy that did the same thing, I'm also a Pontiac guy. Do you visit Classical Pontiac?

It went into a 1968 Mustang Fastback. Since it was installed, I sold the car. The guy that bought it, moved the 514 into a dragster, and the car now has a stroked 351W.
