Hi can someone tell me witch is a better engine, the 427or 428 it will go in to an Australian xb falcon and what 4speed trans should go behind this engine?

Well they are both very good engines but I'd have to say the 427 has the edge over the 428. Larger bore, crossbolted mains, larger block oil passages etc.... Most run a toploader tranny for a 4 speed. They are far more durable than the older T-10's. G. |

For a street application, the 428 would be more ideal with it's longer stroke and small bore thus having "more seat in the pants" or torque at the lower commonly driven rpms. If you'd like the best of all worlds, use the 427 block with its larger bore in conjuction with the longer stroke 428 crankshaft for an easily built stroker.
