I just bought a 1993 Bronco XLT with the 351 and E40D, truck has 110,000 miles, and has never been wrecked or lifted. Everything appears to be stock, but there is a harsh/severe vibration, clearly from the rear of the vehicle, which I have not solved with new U-Joints in the rear drive shaft. Always there under light load, but rears it's ugly head under heavy load from 45-55mph, and under constant load from 70-80mph,predominantly under load and acceleration up a hill. Already tried to shim the rear end above and beyond what looks like 7 degree factory wedges in place, to eliminate pinion angle problems, helped slightly at 20-45mph speeds , but no effect at higher speeds. Anyone with any experience with an apparently factory Bronco, please help !!!

I had a vibration in my 93 same set up. The vibration wasn't there while it was in third or overdrive but occured only when the tranny was shifting between the two gears. Torque converter was the culprit. Hope this helps. Don

I appreciate the info, what exactly is the problem with the torque converter, and what are the causes ? Milage, design problem, did you go back with a converter from the dealership, aftermarket ?

did you check the double carden ball assembly for wear? if it is worn you may get some vibration.

Just a but of more advice. Check the rear driveline itself, It may be bent or warped causing vibrations at high speeds. Hope this helps.

Hey guys, I changed the trans/torque converter fluid and filter and the vibration is 95% gone! Wasnt all that dirty, but did it ........now only hear a rhythmic slight roar when trans is under load at freeway speeds up an incline. Probably indicative of trans rebuild or new torgue converter as suggested in my near future, but She's gonna have to run for awhile! Appreciate all the help !
