hey fellas, my name is garrett. i need some help with this subject. i have recently learned something that i had already found out a long time ago, however i learned this the hard way. i was talking to a ford carshow rep that had a cobra R replica at the show and i noticed something different on his car then on my car. the front splitter on his car had almost double the ground clearance as mine. and his splitter was the OE ford splitter. I went to him and asked him why it was different or if i was loosing my mind. he said that Ford had found out that at high speeds the splitter produced so much down force that it caused severe stress on the bumper and causes the bumper braces (the composite material the top of the bumper attaches to) to crack and break. i was totally shocked! i told him that in fact, a few months ago i was traveling on the highway doing about 85-90mph and at the time i hadnt realized it but when i got home the speed i was traveling at caused the splitter to pull the bumper down so much it broke both sides of where it attaches to the car and the bumper was just hanging on by the bgolts on the sides, i was lucky it didnt rip right off! and he was like, oh yeah sure itll do that. again i was totally shocked! he then went on to tell me that if i went to ford they would replace my splitter with the "new" one, but he wasnt too sure about that. he also told me to go to the SVT website and look for the article that explains what happens, however, i cannot find such an article anywhere. and that is why i need all your help. if anyone out there knows what im talking about, especially all you '00 Cobra R owners, i would really appreciate it if you could point me in the direction where i can find this info or if you could enlighten me. i know there has to be some truth to this because it has physically happen to me. my email is, [email protected] and i had attached a photo of my car so you can see what i drive, thanks!
