Hi, guys
I'm new on this forum. I just bought a nice 78 F150 with a rebuilt 400 eng in it. It was running fine until the other day I decided to clean the engine with gunk and a hose... I started it right afterwards and let it run for a few minutes to dry everything off.
I went back to it a couple of days later and it w/not start. The engine turns fine but it wont even try to light off. I had put it some carb cleaner in the tank, so I thought I had gummed up the fuel filters. I replaced both the one by the tank and the one at the carb inlet. I took the pump off and flushed it with fuel, and it worked fine when I applied 12V to it. (It has no mechanical fuel pump)
I took off all plugs, wires, distributor cap, and all of it looked ok. I didnt get a good ck on the ignition coil so I replaced it. Still no spark.
I read in this and other forums about the Electronic Ignition Module, aka Duraspark box. Mine has neither 2 nor 3 wires... It has SIX wires!!!: red, white, green, green, orange and purple... there are some numbers and letters on the Duraspark box as follows: AA E8FF 12A199.
I understand one can jump two of the wires to determine if the box is bad. Which ones, fellas?
Also, is there any other thing I can ck? I thought maybe one of the key switch connections may be pulled...
I really like the truck, but really wished it were RUNNING!!!!
Thanks in advance.
