Wanting to do the "under the hood Ac upgrade" on the 68 fairlane type ranchero . Now that I have the original equiptment compressor runing I realize that it is very heavy and puts a drain on the engine. I would like to run a more modern rotory type sanden compressor it ius half the weight and can be used with either refrigerent type, Yould like to use freze 12 the drop in replacement for r12 and then I can reuse my metering device and flair type hoses. Have been talking to 2 different after market companys, one says ther 8 cubic inch compressor with outhe r under hood components will work ok with my factory plenum coil etc, but the outher company says no you have to by the matching under dash componets for it to work properly. Has anybody been down this road, and if so what are your sugestions? |
