Hey guys its my first day on the forum! I have an 01 Crown Vic Interceptor that doesn't want to start. It has had no issues except for the other day. Got in, turned it on, it cranked slowly until the battery was dead. I got a new Interstate battery and put it in and it still wont start. One of my friends suggested checking the fuel filter, another said spark, another said have the alternator checked. I live in an apartment and right now my 01 is stuck on a busy street so I cant get under it safely, for the fuel filter that is. Any one know the best place to start first?

FIRST YOU NEED TO CHECK THE FUEL PUMP-TAKE FUEL CAP OFF AND HAVE A FRIEND TURN THE KEY WITH YOUR EAR BY THE HOLE TO HEAR THE PUMP COME ON FOR A FEW SECONDS.IF THAT IS GOOD PRESS THE VALVE ON THE FUEL RAIL(LOOKS LIKE A VALVE STEM ON YOUR TIRE)YOU SHOULD GET A LITTLE GAS FROM THERE.IF THAT IS GOOD YOU NEED TO CHECK FOR SPARK IF YOU HAVE COIL OVER PLUGS ITS NOT LIKELY THAT ALL 8 QUITWORKING.JUST REMEMBER YOU NEED TO HAVE GOOD BATTERYTO RUN ELECTRONIC INJECTORS -FUEL PUMP- COMPUTER. YOU MAY TRY CRANKING WITH FOOT SLIGHTLY ON THROTTLE.

Also check the crankshaft sensor. If this craps out, all eight of the coils wont fire because this sensor is what pretty much controls the ignition timing.
