Can anyone tell me where the headlight module is on a 2003 CVPI ? My headlights go on and off intermittantly.

Inside the car, near the gas pedal. Put on your flashers and listen for the clicking of the relay, or open your door with the keys in the ignition and listen for the buzzer sound.
Your light problem, may however, be a bad headlight switch.

Just noticed your reply from December! I replaced the switch and it worked for about a week now it is happening again. Gonna check the module under the dash, If you get anywhere, let me know. I will do the same!

I have the same problem. I have a 98 crown vic and the headlights just turn off and on at random. So I took it to the Ford dealership and they said it was the module under the dash. I had them replace that. It worked fine for a year and a half, then it started back all over again. So I will try replacing the switch to see if this will fix the problem.

The LCM (Lighting Control Module) is located under the driver's side dash, just rear of the accelerator peddle. It is a black box about 4"wide x 7"long x 2"thick and is mounted ontop of a metalic bracket. You will need to remove the three wiring harnesses from the module, then remove the two screws that hold it into place. Next depress the temperary holding clip and slide the unit towards the front of the vehicle as far asd possible to reveal the two mounting screws of the metalic bracket, remove the screws. this will allow you to completely remove the module. In my application, I could not totaly slide the module out without first loosening the bracket.

Once the module is out, you will need to take it to a well lit workbench to perform the reapirs and you will need a soldering iron. solder (thin solder used for fine elctronic use, not plumbing solder), and a madnifying glass.

Your symptom is most likely being caused by a faulty solder joint within the module and can easily be re-solderd if you have at least some soldering experience. Once you have the unit on your workbench, remove the two securing screws using a torx tip. This will allow you to depress the two securing clips on each side of the unit to then allow you to pivot the unit open. Remove the cover and set aside.

Inside the mocule, you will see two circuit boards. On the top board there you should see four small black plastic rectangular boxes about a half inch in size, these are realays. Flip the top circuit board over to reveal it's underside and locate where the four relays stick through to the underside of the board. Use the magnifying glass to carefully examine the solder connections, you will most likely find the problem on one or more of these solder joints.

TIP: how to know when a solder joint is faulty - Compare the joint with other joints for a point of referrence. A faulty joint will not be smooth and clean of breaks and cracks, the cracks will be very thin so use the magnifying glass and a flashlight to determine.
