05 p71 overdrive problem

My 05 crown vic slips in and out of overdrive. The check engine light came on and the O/D light blinks on and off. Any ideas?

I had the same problem with my 01 p71 it ended up being trans fluid leaking thru the trans connector on the right rear, and screwing stuff up. I just did the 5 speed stick swap to fix it instead of messing with the automatic.
