I have been a fan of the panther platform for some time. I am currently looking for a vehicle and I may have found a possible canidate. It is a 2007 P-71 retired police car. It has a couple of minor things that need to be addressed. The heat only blows on high, no spare, radio doesnt turn on, holes need to be plugged. Car has new tires, engine is quiet, trans shifts good. Car has 83,000 miles and the dealer is asking $5500. Am I a sucker or.....

That's not a bad price. I bought a 2006 with 78,000 for $6900, but everything works perfectly....so far.

I bought an '06 P71 in 2009 from Government Fleet Sales in Kansas City, Mo. in 2009. The car had 42,000 mi. on it and was very clean. I brought it home, ordered new carpet, had it professionally detailed and it looks like a million bucks. It's up to 57,000 mi., I've put several cross country trips on it and wouldn't take anything for it. I really like this car.

Sorry, I noticed everyone else is mentioning purchase price. I gave them $10,500.00 for this one with no regrets.

The price is not bad for a 2007.
Heater issue is a do it yourself resistor motor fix - low medium selections burned out on the knob.
Holes can be plugged with hard to find meal 3/4 plugs or easy to find rubber plugs. Each canbe painted with scratch mini paint bottles.
If your going to repaint the car then have metal welded in the holes - body fill and paint.

You will not get your money back on upgrades unless the car is cherry when you get tired of it.

Stereo not working would be a wire issue - some Agencies have the stereo wired into the two way radio so the stereo is OFF when the radio is keyed up - regardless buy or barrow another head unit - they run around 5.00 for just the amfm unit.

spare tires and jack and lug wrench are some what easy to find - look for lincolns and mercurys in the same year.

hope it helps - lost track of how many P71 i have owned.

I got my 2008 with 72,000 miles and zero idle hours. 8800. Worth every penny.
1 idle hour equals 30 miles from what I've read.

I just bought a 2007 Ford P71 from Dewitt County Sheriffs department here in Texas on an Auction site. It had 114,00 miles but runs fantastic, well taken care of , sweet car. Interior looks almost new as does exterior and engine. Across the street from where I work here in San Antonio SW public Safety who does SAPDs' Cars when they trade them out buys their old cars refurbishes them and sells them for $13,000.00 which is $10,000.00 more then I paid for mine and mine is in much better shape cause it Came from a very small county. I ONLY paid $3580....Thats with sales tax and the counties fee.

Got to this website and you can find crown vic Police P71 all over the USA : www.govdeals.com. All you have to do is register with a username and password. You DO NOT have to be a dealer. It's an awesome site much more on there than just crown vics.
