Everywhere I have read advises NOT to buy the DORMAN replacement intake due to quality problems. You will be better off in the long run to buy a FORD OEM replacment intake manifold. They are still good up to about 5500 rpm, and are reinforced to prevent coolant serpage.
There are several companies that do make metalic intakes, but unless you are looking for hi hp and hi rpm, does $500 seem like a good price. Check out
