2005 Ford CV - the haedlamps are turning off approximately one minute or so afgter they come on atuomatically. I set them to the AUTO postition since i purchased the car and have not changed that setting since. This has been going on for about two weeks now and at firsth, I could play with switch by cycling it through AUTO-OFF-Parking-ON and they would eventually, not imediateley, turn back on. Now i have to turn them off, wait a few seconds and turn them back on. Anyone know whether this is the switch itself or maybe a relay under the dash? I have the Fors complete Workshop Manual, but the symptom is not listed in it.

All, I figured my problem out. I found out that there is an LCM (Lighting Control Module) on this vehicle and deduced that the problem is most likey within it. I was correct, I removed the module and repaired a faulty solder joint within it and all is well.

I had the same problem and opened the LCM as well. Only I found that the when the lights didn't come on, there also wasn't a slight click noise of the relay coming on. There are four relays inside the LCM and I replaced them all. If your fix doesn't work, I'm pretty sure it is the relays. I didn't try to figure out which one wasn't working, I just replaced all of them. They cost $4 each and I got them online. You have to read what company and model number on them to order. The relays are black cubes the size of a sugar cube. Good luck...

I have the same headlamp trouble, and would like to try replacing the relays in the lcm, but after getting one of them out, it has no number or letters of any kind on it, where do I start? Mine is out of a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis.

There is a current recall by Ford for the 2003-2005 LCM, you have to go to Ford and they will repair/replace the LCM at no cost to you.

Here is a link to NEC relays that look identical but the numbers do not match. They probably will do the same job.
