whats better a 4 or 5 speed trany?

i have a 77 f150 with a 4sp c6 in it but i need that 5th gear 4 just doesn't cut it. i only hit 55 60 mph what can i do? please help

what is your axle set up? gears? tire size? you should be able to at least hit 70. and you have to remember, in the 70's was the gas rationing and all of that and the max speed on inrestates was 55mph.
