Discontinued molding

You know, I've been a dyed-in-the-wool Ford man for over two decades, but one thing about Ford really ticks me off: They have discontinued so many parts for my '89 Bronco. What the heck is that all about? Its not even 15 years old! Discontinued? What, is that an antique? Anyway, when I had the back end repainted last year, the shop removed the molding/trim that is plastic with chromed strips, and runs horizontally along the bottom half of the quarter panels on one side, before they realized that they couldn't order new molding from Ford, because it was discontinued. Now I have it ONLY ON ONE SIDE! Anyone know where I can get the molding? Don't say the salvage yard, I know I won't be able to get it off in any condition to put back on, as I'm just not very good at such stuff.
