I just bought my 05 ford crown vic p71 it had records that came with the car from the police department that cylinder 5 was misfiring, the records show that the ford dealership replaced the coil unit over that plug and then replaced all spark plugs and that fixed the problem... Sorry that this does not help you and your situation, not sure what to tell you.

Try checking the plastic clips on the injector and the coil on that cylinder. My 03 had most of the clip broken and loose i zip tied them until i found replacments.

I have a 04 p71 a common problem from the factory with the vics is the coil packs i had to replace most of mine because they go bad between 100k-120k my suggestion is switch the coil pack with a working one (besides the replaced one) along with a diffrnt injector see how that works most cops dont do fuuel injection cleaners

2003INTERCEPTER its been a long time since you wrote your question so I am guessing you already got it figured it out. I just went through a P0301 code - cylinder 1 misfire. I tried everything - replacing coil, plug and injector. I switched several plugs and wires around until I was sure the coil wasn't getting the signal to fire the plug. I bought an LED testing unit ($35) and indeed found that the switching signal from the ECM was not being sent. I traced it back all the way to the ECM so I was sure it was not a short in the harness. Then I took it to the Ford dealer just to be sure. They confirmed the ECM was the issue and offered to fix it for $1,000. I thanked them and left. I bought a ECM on E-Bay for under $100.

So what did you finally diagnose the problem as?
