hey guys, i have a 2001 crown vix police interceptor and ive been having a problem for the last 2 years~ i just had the intake replaces cuz it was cracked and now im finding out that ive been backfiring through the intake. signs are now pointing to clogged catalytic converters as the culprit, since everything else just about has been replaced. my question is does my car need catalytic converters?? if not, they are gone.

Not the authority here...but I am fairly sure that the emissions 'system'...Q2 sensors pre & post if any will be needed to send there reading to the "CPM' (computer)....

Otherwise....Fed. and/or state issues (Calif.) on emissions would say YES....Do you have an annual emissions test (state requirement...).....? If YES....I would think you will have to have the CATS....!!!

Check'em out before you just cut'em & leave'em.....

in luisianna you have state inspections so i would replace the cats its gonna be costly but worth it to have it registered
