first to second shift became slow, harsh, erratic.....only after operating temps were reached....after obtaining several referals.....took car to local aamco transmission shop....worst possible decession i
could have made......asked shop to run a computer scan and test drive car......they decided i needed
a trans rebuild......naturally......thats how aamaco makes a fat proffit and sticks it to all their customers......after $2800 bill....they refused to let me test drive car before payment......drove car 10 miles and after warmup...........same problem......rough-erratic shift fron 1 - 2 gear shift.......drove car 7 days and exoerienced an check-engine lite......limped into local ADS repair shop.....the shop that i should have gone to in the first place......it took these true proffessionals 15 minutes to locate the problem......plastic intake manifold developed leak (seal) in front right area around thermostat............
this leak and loss of coolant and air pocket in coolant chamber fed erronious signal to computer system that caused erratic transmission shift........other than my stupidity and failure to detect the leak....i am posting this info to warn everyone to avoid AAMCO transmission shops like a dose of the
black plague !

Contact the BBB, the national AAMCO offices, and the local Chamber of Commerce, and file a complaint that the local AAMCO did not, repeat DID NOT fix the problem that you had. Demand a REFUND from them. You have a receipt from ADS as proof of the proble, which did continue after AAMCO "repaired" your transmission. AAMCO did not.

Thanks for the info...sorry about the bad & expensive experience.... You are brave to share the full story but by no means should you feel totally @fault....that belongs to \\"AAMCO\\"...

I hope you shared this w/your local BBB or Chamber of Commerce.....???
I hope you recontacted \\"AAMCO\\" to review their poor workmanship...??? How about their workmanship on your transmission.....you should also report your story to \\"AAMCO\\" Corp. Office....

You should be given a large \\'refund\\' on this over-billed service that did not correct your original transmission problem....let alone find the original problem....like the local ADS repair shop....send a copy of the work-order to \\"AAMCO\\" Corp. Office...or better yet...a written report by ADS.....

My experience recently w/a transmission shop ..\\'National Group\\'...on a 1998 Audi A* 4.2 L....in was in limp mode part of the time...otherwise slipping out of OD....

Long story.....the 1st suggestion was a rebuild....but when they finally looked under the hood to improve the 1st diagnosis, they theorized....& found a single vacuum leak in a \\"T unit\\'....

Of course the Audi had 6 of these \\'T units\\'....ordered, removed & replaced for only $650......
Holy Cow Bell..... I check w/several Audi dealers & finally found these in-stock for only $3 each....DIY...in one day.....Solved the transmission problems for several months before I finally did a full F-n-F (fluid-n-filter0 ...w/Rislone transmission stabilizer to stop slipping.....

The Audi has been running fine now for more than 10,000 miles .....
