hey guys, new to the forum..

just bought a 02 vic P71. has 200,000 on it, just did coils ,plugs, injectors, wires, egr, egr selenoid, deleted rear cars, MAF etc etc,... was running real good but the car just threw another code and it says the EGR is being restricted, no flow pretty much,

. im done with it, i want to delete it. my question is, if i buy a delete plate can i put the plate on without deleting anything else but the EGR ?? do i have to take the pipe off the back of the heads or wherever it is? thanks alot in advance..

I would check the egr tube it can get clogged or even crack. You should use the delete plate then remove the tube and cap the hole in the manifold. You will still get codes until you turn off the egr in the computer.

I have a similar problem -my 2000 Crown Vic threw a P0401. I had thoroughly cleaned the ERG and exhaust tubing running into the intake. I used carb cleaner and Seafoam motor treatment running it in to the vacuum system. It seemed to really decarbon the engine and it runs great, but is still throwing the code. I research up on this issue and it seems it may very likely be the EGR Pressure Feedback Sensor sometimes called the DPFE Sensor. You didn't mention replacing it, so it may very likely be the cause. It is very hard to find, (or was for me). It sits on the back of the motor on the passenger side. You can go to Auto Parts Warehouse or Auto zone to see a picture. There are numerous blogs about this being a very common problem. I did not replace it to find out if it was the issue since I had just spent a bunch of money on stuff trying to fix the # 1 cyl misfiring. Change the COP, the plug, and fuel injector and finally after taking to FORD to verify my diagnosis, an ECM. In the end it turned out to be a short in the harness.

So I may replace DPFE when I get a spare$50. If you do try this fix please let me know how it worked.
good luck.
