Hi All,
I have a well maintained 2007 Lincoln TC with 54K miles on the clock. Until now the car has been 100% reliable in everyway. Yesterday, while running around locally, I noticed the battery light illuminate while returning home. Within a mile, the car completely shut down and remains totally dead. I pulled over and inspected the engine compartment, which had a very strong electric odor, but no smoke or obvious burnt wires, etc. Again, absolutely nothing works as if the battery was not in the vehicle. I did have a volt meter with me and measured the voltage directly at the battery which showed 0.29 (the lowest I've ever seen in many years of fooling with cars). I would like to tackle the trouble shooting and this appears to be a great forum to start with! Any help would be most appreciated...thanks.
