| Welcome to the club!!! The Panthers may be an old platform, but they are tough. |
I've been a long time fan of traditional American sedans, my previous car is the 2006 Buick Lacrosse CXL, I bought it at 20000km and put 135000km on it, and the 3800III motor still runs quite and strong, however the 4T65E transmssion sometimes has some harsh shift. I could have just kept it until it dies but I always wanted a change of life, plus I like playing with different cars every 4~5 years.
This Marquis somehow drives a lot like the Buick (other than being BOF-RWD), same effortless steering and soft suspension (still bit more stiffer than the Buick), even the interior green lighting are the same. So far my only cons about the car is that its powertrain is quite noisy, maybe I'm used to Buick's quite tuning. I noticed that this vehicle has a gear whine in its1st gear, sounds like being supercharged, once passed gear 1 it is ok. I did not notice it during test driving, maybe because I was chatting with the salesman and didn't pay attention. The interior looks much roomier than the Buick but front leg room seems inadequete, or it's just me. Overally speaking I love the car, bit of a throw-back car compare to the Lacrosse but it's the last of its kind, worth owing once in a life time. My friends told me to get the new Taurus, but the price is too high and I can't afford. The new Taurus just had its debut and hasn't proven itself, while the Crown Vic/Marquis have been around for so long and proven to be robust. Anyhow, I plan to keep it for 5 years.
