vynl top removal?

my vynl top is in good shape. and i was goin to sand a paint car satin black to make all same color, leaving the bumpers chrome removing all trim pieces. my question is could i remove the vynl top and have it look ok, or is there some reason this would not work? or would that not look good

car is 89 crown vic dark blue interior

The vinyl will/could be tough to remove...then getting the subsurface extremely smooth....

That could be a task....!!

Of course it's an 89 vehicle...for transport...& some cosmetic looks....

You could check w/some body shops to talk w/techs...as to their professional thoughts...

But it's up to you as to the quality of job w/tools that you can achieve....

Do a Google for vinyl top removal and see what info is available. Most require heat and scraping to remove it all. Then its surface prep to correct/prime/repaint. Very labor intense but do able at home
