Hello Ranchero motorheads.
I recently purchased a 65 Ranchero with a 289 C.I., 4 barrell, and 4 speed.
I am in the process of replacing the clutch. I have removed the driveshaft, and the bolts, linkage etc from the bell housing, but the transmission does not want to be seperated from it. I have used penetrating oil around the seal. I have raised and lowered both the tranny and the motor. I have also tried beating the daylights out of it with a block of wood and rubber mallet. I would appreciate any suggestions from any of you who may have come across this issue, and have been successful.

Go back and recheck every inch of that bell housing. I have left one bolt and ended up almost breaking a bell house (did have to get it welded). The trans mount may also prevent it from moving back. But if everything if off and loose, try bumping the starter.
