Hi!

I'm having a close eye on a F-150 XLT (1994) for sale. Sure, the truck needs some work on it but the price seems to be ok. Anyway, since the speedo is not working I'm wondering whether there's any checks/tests you recommend to run before buying since I read at another forum that a dead speedo can do some damage to the trans. And is there anything I can do quick to check out why the speedo is dead (fuses, plugs, etc.) when in talks with the seller?

Thanks,
Holger

1st and foremost, unhooking a speedo is a common practice of folks who want to hide the actual milage on an engine. It may not be broke, or the owner may be less than forthcoming. How many miles does the truck have? Engine size? 2WD or 4x4? My best advice,Trust but verify. Take the F-150 to a cerified mechanic, or purchase a code scanner for your self.
