A lot depends on what you want to use it for. As a daily driver, I would recommend going with a rebuilt 302 CI (5.0L EFI) and AOD auto-trans. As a Hot Rod, I'ld go with a 408 stroker (351based) with a Tremec 500.

Another idea would be to install a Coyote 5.0 with a T56 Magnum. You should get performance like a late model Mustang with this combination.

It depends on what you want the vehicle for. If you want to restore it and make it look like "factory original", do a restomod and use a late model 5.0 L EFI engine (or the 5.8L EFI, if you want more "umph"). Using an AOD overdrive automatic, you will get better mileage.

The AOD-E / 4R70W are computer controlled, so you need to get either a separate controller for the trans, OR use the PCM from the same model Mustang engine/trans combination. Or have the PCM reflashed.

You need to decide first what the vehicle will be used for. I've seen people install the old 6 cylinder and "three on the tree" and be perfectly happy with it.

1997 Crown Victoria P71 SVT *** ex-US Marshall service (the CAR)
STOCK?? I bet it was modified.

13.26 @ 107.24 MPH 1/4 mi w/ me, tools, & full tank of 93 octane

I added CAI, NICHE 19 X 8.5 " wheels with 245/45ZR 19 rubbers, and completely rebuilt the front end with poly bushings, Kooks headers, 2 1/4inch exhaust, TCI 2200-2400 rpm Stall converter

.PLANS:: engine upgrade, 5.4L 2v stroker, rebuild interior in leather w/ buckets, thinking about turbos
