what is to much, when it comes to fixing up a crown vic?

I have been on the net today... and i see crown vics on 20 inch to 40 inch rims.
I see very nice candy paint to rusty bad looking vics..
Is it considered going over board when u spend 4500 on a vic then u end up spending 20,000 making it fly?
There is so much i want to do with my vic! but i dont want to spend a arm and a leg lol...

As they say, "To each his own!" You can deck out your ride anyway you want if you can afford it. What looks "cool" or "fly" to you may not be another's cup of tea.

I've seen rust buckets kept that way, and the owner spend $25,00 on a hot engine/trans combo to run like the wind. But it still looked like a rust bucket. What matters is what you want and what you like.

My town PD takes their cars out of patrol . Paints them another color . Adds Explorer rims . Tint the windows . They have become popular to buy at the out of service auction . The newest car taken out of patrol has Jeep Rubicon rims on it . Car is tall ! Don't know how it drives -

I say customizing is the key as everyone likes something diffrent. If we all like the same things cars would come that way and no need for aftermarket. I am new to the Crown Vic as far as ownership but have driven one for work for 10+ years and I have always been impressed with how well the hold up as we run em good on a regular basis.

Hey, you are on a site that advises you to Name your Car after a Girl! I have a 08'P71 and my son has a 2000 P71. I drove many Trans Ams' and I think my CVPI handles better than any firebird I ever owned. It weighs 6,000 pounds too, so to say they are sturdy enough to beef up is an understatement.
I am super proud of my car. I get more looks in it than when I am driving my Mercedes... The true dual exhaust it comes with is a great start, the braking system (at least in my car) is fabulous. SO, all said and done, I think they are excellent candidates for modifications. I agree with everyone else that says to each their own too. If you want to put hydraulics in it, go for it. If you want a supercharger- They have a FRAME!!! they can take it. I say, No Limits, as long as you can afFord it.
