2004 P71 Crown Vic...ive owened it for 3 years now and in the last mont, i can be driving along
and the headlights will shut off themselves. Running lights stay on, but headlights shut off randomly. After a few minutes, there is a click in the left side of the dash and the headlights come back on.any ideas anyone? |

It Could be the Headlight switch itself. Or maybe a relay in the circuit near where you heard the noise.

You can count on it being the LCM [lighting control module]. And for $565.00 plus labor, Ford will FIX it! Or, you can go to eBay and pay $53.00, pull the LCM, send it to Lawrenceville, Georgia...and the guy will fix it PERMANENTLY and ship it back the same day he receives the module. Note: the car will not come out of park position until the LCM is reinstalled -- so be prepared to do without the car until you get the LCM back in place! |

its probably the lcm or switch. they go bad on p71s pretty often.
id check the fuse first though. and then all your grounds. start with the simple things.
do as rev ed said and check the relays where the clicking is coming from. the solder most likey broke and is lossing good contact making the clicking sound |

Ur problem is the light switch, I had a couple of customers with that problem. Three choices, dealer, ebay, or a simple junk yard, just make sure u try out the switch before u pay! |
