recently while cleaning my trunk i noticed a light in towards the back on the driver side next to the trunk arm which i didnt notice before. it was hanging down and all taped up i assume from whoever removed the police equipment. my problem is i removed the light, capped the wires, and forgot about it but now my headunit is shorting out and the ticket light mounted in the trunk no longer works. im assuming its a grounding issue but im not sure.
theres a lg/o wire, a bk/pk and a black.
the bk/pk is spliced into the ticket light which is spliced into the tail lights and reverse lights. and the bk and bk/pk are not connected to anything.
the car is also having trouble turning over and dies quick

help!

All I can suggest is to get a manual like Haynes to get an idea how the wiring should be for the trunk light. Electrical problems are a PIA
It does sound like a short, but tracing it is the fun part.
All I can say is try to rewire things the way they were originally and look for bare wires contacting metal.
Have you checked the battery condition and fuel filter? I had a problem like that and found my fuel filter clogged after 5000 miles (cheap gas). Also, have the starter checked.
Best of luck.

no shit theyre a pain!
i was just messing around with it today and realized it turns over and fires right away with the trunk lid open.. O_o
but i think ill just put the original light back in and try to get it back to original. IT SHOULD BE FUN
when it stops raining (st louis) go figure.... ill definately check the fuel filter and i think im gonna cut and restrip the ground (better yet all my battery lines) for my batterry to get a nice fresh start.
thanks for the advice idmeaux! much appreciated |
