. my mother (responsible for getting me into cars) who is the greatest most wonderful woman in the world formerly worked as the compliants manager for honda/toyota/ford at cerritos auto square in cerritos, california. being the boss she is the company gave her cars to drive to 5000 miles and then return for any other new car.

as a young man she owned many beautiful cars including an all black 1998 6 spd vw jetta, an all black 2003 toyota corolla ( my brother wrecked it through the garage),a 2004 forest green v6 accord, a 2004 silver crv, a 2004 honda fit, a 2000 chevy blazer with a 3 inch lift and 36 in mudders, a 2003 silver on silver toyota matrix, and even a 2005 bright yellow 7 spd paddle shift porsche and the star of the show a 2005 5 spd turbo candy baby blue scion tc.

in 2006 my grandmother was diagnosed with lung cancer so my mom decided it was a good idea to move closer to my grandmother incase (god forbid) she passed, so we packed up and moved 1800 miles away to the midwest.

we brought the beautiful 05 tc to missouri by trailer with us. at the time it had 30k miles, an invisibra front, rear and door handle cover and falken ziex ultra low profile tires wrapped around the sexy stock 17 inch silver alloy 5 spoke rims. after settling in to our new tiny midwestern house i found out we were in debt bc my mother decided to buy the scion (original price tag of 20k) which she couldnt afford. a couple weeks after moving to MO my grandpa wrote my mom a check for 17000$ (money we owed on the car) making the total investment almost 30000$.

time went on and eventually i turned 16 meaning it was time to learn to drive and take the test to get my license,i passed first try with an 89 %.

i was 16 , i had my license i had the girl...but i had no car!

3 months went by and in january 2007 my mother came to me and said " i know youve always loved and appreciated cars as much as me and i know youll cherish my gift forever" with my jaws dropped and eyes wide open she tossed me the key and remote and said " i want you to have the scion".

as you can imagine i was on top of the world! i had it all! i didnt waste any time. i ran outside, pushed in the clutch and turned the key, i remember thinking how the 2.4 L vvti toyota computer was the greatest most exilerating sound i'd ever heard. i revved her to 4500, slowly released the clutch and jetted off into the night.

i drove my most prized possesion until 2008. i truely cherished that scion. it was washed and waxed once a week, all fluids were kept up, i installed a light weight (purple) racing flywheel and clutch kit and a toyota short shifter, aftermarket halogen tails and headlights, sirius radio and a full under carriage cover. man was it the sweetest ride around.

once again time went on and being the idiot i am the car started falling apart. during the summer of 08' i hit a huge possum cruising at 90 mph and took out the whole bottom front bumper, an enemy keyed the drivers side, an idiot friend who didnt know how to drive burnt up my clutch, and the rear tranny seal broke.

during fall of 08' i replaced the clutch with an identical one and fixed the tranny seal. life was once again great.

in jnauary of 08' i was with a friend who lives in the country, he was the kind of friend when youre around both of us do crazy shit. so one night he asked me if i had ever topped the scion out. i said "no" but beung the show off i am i was willing to try it. we popped in led zepplin later days, cranked the volume and fastened pur SEATBELTS.

we were at the top of our favorite straight stretch, revving it up, looked at eachother and said "hopefully this isnt the last time we see eachother" i pushed in that beautiful clutch, hit the gas and off we went. 20,40,60,80,100., my buddy screaming and me eyes wide open and hands sweating,we kept on 110,120,130,140! the fastest ive ever gone. at this point we were screaming, the 4 mile road went by in a second.

all of the sudden we hit an oil patch on a 45 degree turn and went into an uncontrolable spin. we were spinning at 140 mph with led still playing, my soda flew out the window, my buddies head hit the passenger window and broke his teeth, air bags exploded, tires popped, windows broke, smoke was everywhere.

the spinning stops..... i looked around, looked at my friend (he was alive), we spun off the road, off a 30 foot hill and landed in a tree. i hopped out with no shoes (they flew off) got my friend out and thanked god for sparing my life. after realizing what the fuck just happened i literally CRIED about my beautiful car being destroyed by stupidity. it was like a horror movie. pieces of bumper there, some window here, some tire there. i had totalled my mothers most prized gift to me. i was done.

we came to and bloddied and bruised we walked to a friends house and called for help.

i woke up in the morning in my bed with the sheriff at my feet,. he gave me a C&I for speeding and said "i hope you learned your lesson" "we were looking for dead bodies"

ill never forget that day and ill always be thankful for side curtain air bags , seatbelts and plastic bodies!

to this day 140 mph is the fastest ive ever gone and the fastest speed ive wrecked at for that matter and i plan to keep it that way. ill also never forget the power of a 2.4 vvti and the incedible ability of modern day technology. my mom forgave me (eventually) and life went on.

i now drive a 2000 p71 with a 4.6 thank god it has a 5 star crash test rating. im now a careful driver and i now recognize the consiquence of immaturity and stupidity. i also have way too much respect and love for my p71 .the scion rests peacefully in auto heaven. (actually someone bought it and reused the motor, interior, and drivetrain) and it is forever loved.

THANKS to whoever reads this and please post other sad stories!
