does anyone know an average price on 5 spd tranny swap for 2000 p71. is 4k enough?

Go to www.crownvic.net to see the write up where someone changed over to a stick from an auto. They didn't list the costs, but I believe they did have a ballpark figure somewhere in the replies.
I figure that using "pre-owned" parts, you could probably do it within your range. That would be trannie, bell housing, clutch assembly, flywheel. cables, pedals, and tune. Don't forget that the crank will need to be able to hold the pilot bearing. A Lot of people forget this part.
You actually would be able to do it buying an engine / trans assembly with the pedals using hydraulics well within that range. The tune / tuner is a definite NEED to reprogram the PCM.

I added CAI, NICHE 19 X 8.5 " wheels with 245/45ZR 19 rubbers, and completely rebuilt the front end with poly bushings, Kooks headers, 2 1/4inch exhaust, TCI 2200-2400 rpm Stall converter
.PLANS:: engine upgrade, 5.4L 2v stroker, rebuild interior in leather w/ buckets, thinking about turbos

cool! thanks for the tip. ive seen someone swap 95' 5.0 trans and clutch into 2000 p71. i know i can find 5.0 parts for cheap. i just need the time! all his work and parts was 5k though.
