My 2004 CVPI

Just got a 2004 CVPI and it is a sweet machine. It moves and stays glued to the road.

From what I\\\\'ve read, I have the dreaded blend door syndrome: full time heat in all modes. Probably why it went to Auction. I will have to take a deep breath and fix it. It puts out a blast of heat and would even be too warm to run most winter days without the windows open some.I hope it\\\\'s the contol and not the door.

Some questions about that, that I haven\\\\'t seen addressed:
How do I verify the function of the temp knob if the actuator doesn\\\\'t move. (Found this 7/3/12)
How to I test the actuator if the problem is in the knob control? (Found this 7/3/12)
How likely is that to be the control knob?
How does the temp knob function to control the actuator? (Found this 7/3/12)

Now for something completely different:
As would be expected, all the Patrol goodies were thoroughly removed. Just to the right of the steering column under the dash there is a white (vacuum?) hose. Anybody have any idea what that would be for and where it goes?

If you move the function knob (MAX AC, AC, Vent, Floor, Defroster) and CANNOT hear the door "popping" as it moves, the actuator is probably dead. The door is now in a position to prevent outside air from entering the cabin.

The blend door has to be working to find out if the temp knob is working..

Most of my experience has been with the pre-98 models, so I am making an assumption they all work alike.

The conrtrol are a bit tricky...even with "shop manuals"....!

Have you checked out any "online" or shop manuals....?

In a "push" ....you could BLOCK-OFF the firewal heater hose...the one entering
the heat exchanger box,,, Doing this for the HOT Days...

Re-Hook it for the Winter Days....

Thanks guys. I've ordered the module and I think I can get to it without pulling the entire dash of the 6hr version. I can't get to JD's Ref yet. I didn't realize SM.net and CVnet required separate registrations. The admin hasn't granted me access yet. I also ordered a stop valve and a bypass valve. The stop valve for a temp fix and the bypass maybe later if I want more control and can't get this sorted out.
The AC may not work when I get this fixed. There's absolutely no juice in the lines which I'm 'a-feared' means the AC has a leak. I first want to get the car so I can drive it without all the windows open :-). I do like drive'n 'er. That posi puts the horse hoofs right down on the pavement without any useless squeelin' or chirpin' :-D
