Hi,

Tomorrow I get my 1996 Bronco 5.0, and plan on removing the top. I have searched this forum, and yahoo, trying to find information about removing the top. Could somebody please explain to me the process of removing it? I haven't looked at the interior or shell too closely, so maybe it just bolts off, but someone please let me know.

Thank you,
Curtis

Go to FullSizeBronco.com and/or MyBigBronco.com and search those sites. MBB even has a tech article about it. It is very easy assuming you don't run into any rusted bolts and have someone or something to help with the lifting. Simply unscrew the trim pieces and unbolt the bolts. Be sure to take care not to lose the retaining clips into the body because they are loose. I think the bit you need is a T45 security bit and a T55 for the Seatbelts. Lastly unplug the third brake light and lift.

Gotta go to NAPA and get a key'ed Torx bit
Size T40 tamperproof for the bolts.
The third breaklight wires are hooked up in the left rear corner.
Get a friend or two for help lifting. It's about 300lb's

Very important note:

Remove the Nut-plate clips before you drive off or they will
fall into the body never to be seen again!!!!
Thats not dented, It's customized
