My 2000 crown vic has developed a miss fire when the engine lugs in overdrive or drive. in overdrive this usually happens between 70-90 kilometers per hours above this speed it run fine. Lots of power when and no mis fire when it shifts down for passing and no problems. any have this issue before? |

Yes, I have seen that problem a few times. First, if the car has over 80k miles, change the spark plugs with Motor Craft plugs. The original Motor Craft plugs do not last to 100k miles. Check the boots while you are changing the plugs, if they are soft or cracked, install new boots. Next if you still have that mis fire and no code; buy one Motor Craft coil and try it in each cylinder position. Good luck. |

If no codes, you can do a tune up on the engine. The OEM plugs put in at the factory won't last the 100Km they claim.
