What tells 4R70W when to shift?

Unlike older transmissions that rely on pressure and vacuum to tell it when to shift, the newer series of transmissions rely on electronic signals from the PCM. Yes, there are parts inside that need the pressure to signal the PCM that it is ready to shift, but the shift points are computer controlled. That is one reason the 4R70W shifts quicker and at lower points in a Police version (P71) than in a civilian version, even though they are the same transmission.

I added CAI, NICHE 19 X 8.5 " wheels with 245/45ZR 19 rubbers, and completely rebuilt the front end with poly bushings, Kooks headers, 2 1/4inch exhaust, TCI 2200-2400 rpm Stall converter
.PLANS:: engine upgrade, 5.4L 2v stroker, rebuild interior in leather w/ buckets, thinking about turbos
